What is Standing Seam?

There are two types of standing seam profiles made in-house, mechanical and snaplock. Standing seam metal roofing is a specific type of concealed fastener roof style. While the panels are screwed into the purlins, they are then covered with the way panels overlap. This means that the panels interlock using a clamping or snapping system providing a weather-tight seal.

Roofing Applications

Standing seam panels can give your home an amazing modern look coupled with spectacular durability. A standing seam metal roof is the ideal system for anyone looking for a more low maintenance look. The biggest draw for this product is the hidden fastener. This feature provides peace of mind for many years as you do not need to worry about washers eroding away from weather allowing for less maintenance through the years.

Standing seam often requires a minimum slope of 14 degrees. A standing seam roof is a type of metal roofing where continuous inter-chained panels run from the ridge of the roof all the way down to the eaves. The upturned edge of one panel that connects it to neighboring panels creates very notable vertical lines and a sharp, modern look. A good majority of residential standing seam roofs are designed as watershed systems, often requiring a minimum roof slope of 14 degrees or more.

Mechanical Seam

Mechanically seamed metal roofing is the most weather-tight roofing system. It is ideal for a flat roof and can handle pitches as low as a 1/12. It is ideal for snow and can be seamed with a single or double lock connection. With hidden fasteners, this profile provides long, bold lines for a modern look.

NEED to have a roof seamer for this either one that they own or rent.

Snap Lock

Our Snap Lock panel system is a concealed fastener panel installed with a floating clip system, which allows for expansion and contraction of the panel. This panel is wind rated at 130 mph, is great for snow, and is great for an accent roof as well as your whole roof.

More information:

  • Less maintenance due to the screws being hidden from the elements
  • Don’t penetrate the actual panel
  • pre-drilled/marked holes for the screws
  • 40-year paint warranty
  • A lot of people like to use standing seam as an accent roof such as a patio awning
